WHAT DOES IT COST?
Ok, let’s cut to the chase. This is what you really want to know, isn’t it? How much is it going to cost me?
It’s a fair question and, without wanting to sound as if we’re avoiding it, the answer is: “It depends”!!
It depends on a lot of things: what exactly it is that you’re after, what sort of state your papers are in, how easy or difficult it’s going to be to sort out your issues. You get the idea.
But we’ll give you a broad idea so you can figure out what sort of price you might expect to pay:
Perhaps you’re on PAYE and need to file a tax return, maybe with some investment income. If you’ve got all your figures ready to go then we’ll do the rest – complete the tax return, file it with HMRC and deal with the standard correspondence to tie up your affairs for the year.
If you’re self-employed and need us to draw up a set of accounts from a decent set of records kept in a proper cash book, then fill out and file your tax return with HMRC our charge would probably be in this general area. We think this is a good price so we need to make it clear that your books and records really do need to be complete, well-ordered and ready-to-go. If you’re not sure what this means, we can advise you on this.
If you want us to try and draw up a set of self-employed accounts from a carrier bag full of ancient dog-eared receipts and a couple of scrappy bank statements, then fill out and file your tax return with HMRC it’s going to cost a little more! We can help you keep your bill down, though. We’ll talk to you to make sure that you’re not paying too much tax and give you clear advice on what you need to do next time so you can keep costs down.
Seems a bit pricey?
We’re definitely not expensive compared to other accountants (ask around if you don’t believe us!) but maybe even these figures seem a bit more than you were expecting? There’s a couple of things you should know:
- it’s likely that we can save you money. We’ve got plenty of experience in drawing up accounts and filing tax returns. We know what expenses you can claim, what reliefs you’re entitled to and how to keep your tax bill down. Our prices reflect this expertise and our knowledge will almost certainly save you money in the long run;
- whatever price we agree on, the chances are that our bill will be tax-deductible. So you’ll be getting an effective 20% discount built in to our price. Sounds complicated? Don’t worry, it really isn’t – we’ll explain it to you when we meet!
The figures above are just basic guidelines so you can get an idea of a ballpark figure. If you’re after something more complex it might cost a bit more. Equally, if it’s something really basic then it may be less. We’re always happy to chat through what you want and we’ll work hard to come to an agreement about what’s fair.
But whatever it is we’re thinking of charging you, we promise that we’ll talk about it with you first. We’ll make sure you’re clear about what you need, what we can do for you, what you can expect at the end of it and how much we’re going to charge you. Unlike some less scrupulous operators…
…there’ll be no unpleasant surprises: we’ll tell you the price and we’ll stick to it.
We also promise that we won’t rip you off. If we can do it cheaply, we’ll tell you. Actually, if we think you could just make a phone call and sort it out yourself then we’ll tell you that too. It’s not just about the money – our reputation is important to us and we want to provide a service that the people of Deal (and Kent) can trust.
